Still blogging on the Mac
I am still without my lovely desktop and since I don't blog in the labs on campus, this post is will be without any sort of formatting. It seems as though a lot has happened since my last post, so let me do the best I can to sum it all up. I feel another list coming on...it's just so much easier.
1. About a week ago I found out the my grandma's cancer is not only back, but it has spread. Clearly that's not the news that my family wanted to hear. At first she was refusing treatment and she was trying to convince my mom to put her in a nursing home and forget about her. Two days later, my mom called and said that it was probably the medicine talking. I think she's more receptive to treatment now and she's now back at home on her own. So...things are looking up.
2. Therese came to visit me this past weekend. We had a ton of fun and I'm really glad she made the trek to CoMo. What exactly did we do you ask? Well we went to the Berg (twice), we ate a lot and we went to the park and played on the playground. Sounds like a fun weekend to me.
3. Today in my capstone class we got our first drafts back from our Intro and Methods section that we had to write for our research that we are conducting. Before the papers were handed back we got a bit of a lecture about how bad they were and how our professor was disappointed with the quality, etc, etc. She also mentioned that there were only 2 A's in the class. And yes...I got one of them! On top of that, she e-mailed me tonight to tell me that she was very pleased with the paper that I turned in and that it stood out in a very positive way. Horray for me. I usually suck it up when it comes to writing, plus I've been a little down because I haven't really heard anything from Grad schools. All and all it was a good day!
4. Brittany, the girl I tutor got accepted into the National Honor Society at SoBoCo on Monday. They are having their induction on Wednesday and she invited me to attend with her family. I was very honored that she thought to include me along with her family, but unfortunately I can't go because I have another obligation.

A belated update
(I'm using an Apple and there are no formating buttons on the blogger screen, so I hope this looks okay)

So yesterday was a day full of highs and a couple of lows. Due to my laziness, but need to update, I'm giving you the summary in list format. Enjoy!
1. I got an "A" on a quiz in Evolution and I had only been to one class since the last quiz two weeks ago.
2. I found out that I might actually get to go on Spring Break. Ashley has a connection to a private island off of South Carolinia with a 5 bedroom house. Wait...it gets better. This family friend of hers is letting her take his brand new Durango. All she has to pay for is the gas and deal with one night of this guy's dad at the house. From what she says, the dad is really cool and last time she was with him he bought her and her friends a ton of alcohol and let them stay in his law firms apartment in St. Louis. While this all sounds too good to pass up, I have already made several commitments to people over break and I hate breaking plans...it's a huge pet peeve of mine.
3. I found out I have an interview with Teach for America. I told everyone that I wasn't going to get my hopes up about it, but I'm really excited and I would be delighted to do this for the next two years before I go on to Grad School.
4. In the process of telling my mom the good news about Teach for America, she informs me that my grandma has been in the hospital since Sunday. I talked to my mom today and she told me my grandma's colon cancer is back and she had an operation today to remove the new tumor. She had been feeling horrible for the past couple of months, so I'm hoping the doctors fixed the problem so that she will good as new in no time.
